· Before you get to the party have something satisfying to eat. That way you don't walk in starving.
· Look over all of the food that is offered to you, without taking any on your plate. That way you won't load up on unhealthy choices, with no room for the lighter fare.
· Choose foods that are not grease laden if at all possible. One choice could be to bring a large vegetable platter with a hummus dip, or a party sub sandwich with lots of veggies with the meat. Other less harmful fare can be turkey chili, or making skinless chicken wings with a spicy hot sauce.
· Once you fill your plate, that is all you should consume. No seconds or mindlessly grabbing hand full after hand full of chips.
· If you are drinking, keep the empty cups or bottles next to you, so you are aware of what and how much you are consuming.
Although it is difficult, with all of the food around and the mouthwatering Super Bowl commercials, thinking before you eat something and not mindlessly stuffing food in your mouth, will enable you to have some control over the calories you consume and not break your diet.
